The base for the Alberta time standards is the long course time, with the short course time a 2% conversion.
Only Alberta swimmers are included in the calculations of these standards. Times swum by out of province swimmers at Alberta competitions do not affect the Alberta standards. Standards are created in two tiers, A and B for both males and females in specified age categories. Standards are traditionally revised every two years.
