Team Alberta wins Youth Cup small team award with 36 medals.

During the past weekend, December 3rd through 6th, Team Alberta athletes aged 13 and 14 years old competed in Toronto at the 27th Annual Youth Cup hosted by the North York Aquatic Club.

Day 4 Summary
The first Team Alberta medal event of the day was the 800 freestyle which saw several Alberta athletes in action. Paige Kremer took the gold in the 13-year old category with her time of 9:30.27.  On the boys side of the event Dustin Warrack outtouched his Team Alberta teammate Ken Stairs by under half a second to take the silver.  Dustin and Ken finished in 8:44.02 and 8:44.49 respectivly.

Anthony Lyons was the top Alberta athlete in the 50 freestyle winning the 13-year old boys category winning with a time of 26.50.  In the 14-year old girls category Leah Troskot took the silver in the 50 freestyle in 26.65 over Bailey Sloan who won bronze in 28.81.  Paige Kremer earned a silver in the 13-year old girls category.

In the 50 butterfly Anthony Lyons won his second gold of the day finishing in 28.16.  Jessica Wong earned her first individual medal in the 50 butterfly winning the 14-year old girls category in 29.05

Paige Kremer won the girls 13-year old 50 backstroke in 30.82 while Jessica Wong finished up with silver in the 14-year old age grouping with her time of 29.90.

Team Alberta Final Results

Team Alberta finished the Youth Cup earning 36 individual medals
(19 Gold, 11 Silver and 6 Bronze)

Team Alberta won the small team award. 

Tyra Rooney set two new provincial records in the 200 and 1500 freestyle.

Paige Kremer won the 13-year old indiviual High Point Award.
