The Alberta Sport Recreation Parks and Wildlife Foundation
introduces Development Initiatives Program

The Quarterly Grant program of the Alberta Sport Recreation Parks and Wildlife Foundation has been discontinued and a new program, known as the Development Initiatives program has been introduced by the Foundation.  The new program will come into effect on April 1, 2000.  Application will now be reviewed three times per year; January 1, May 1, and October 1.

Some of the changes to the guidelines of the new program include:

  • The grant program reduces duplication and will focus on funding initiatives that would not be suitable for funding elsewhere in the province, but fit within foundation initititatives.
  • Under the revised guidelines, consideration will be given to projects that might be overlooked by other funding agencies because they fall between or cross geographic boundaries of defined regions, but still fit within the realm of the Foundation's eligible projects.
  • Applicants may no longer apply to more than one provincial government granting agency and/or program for the same identified project.   However, they may apply for funding from different agencies, organisations or foundation for different elements of the same program, with the provision that total funds do not equal or exceed the total cost of the given project.
  • Capital building projects are excluded from this revised program.

New guidelines are available and should be reviewed carefully.  For application forms and guidelines, contact Steven Patrick, Alberta Sport, Recreation, Parks & Wildlife Foundation, Alberta Tourism, Parks and Recreation, at 905 Standard Life Centre, 10405 Jasper Avenue, Edmonton, AB T5J 4R7 or via telephone at 780-644-4897.
